I don’t know about you but my favourite treat to find in my stocking on Christmas morning is a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. Not only is it delicious but also so nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood.

This year I bought myself a second chocolate orange to create Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cookies. These cookies are made up of a chocolate cookie base loaded with chocolate chips and chopped up Terry’s Orange chocolates and each topped with a full slice of orange chocolate. The cookies has a chewy middle and crunchy edges.

This Christmas Season has been full of first for my children. They tried their first candy cane, hot chocolate, and first Terry’s Chocolate Orange. I love seeing them enjoy the same sweet treats I enjoyed as a kid at Christmas Time. I hope you try these cookies and that they become a part of your families Christmas Traditions as well.

How to Make These Cookies

Start by preheating your oven to 350 F and line two baking pans with parchment paper.

Unwrap your Terry’s Chocolate Orange and set 13 slices aside. Chop up the remaining slices and set aside as well.

In a medium sized bowl whisk flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda together. Set aside.

In a large bowl or stand mixer with the paddle attachment cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. This usually takes 2-3 minutes. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix till combined.

Add the flour mixture in and mix till just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped chocolate orange slices.

Scoop 3 tbsp worth of the cookie dough and shape into a ball, I like to use a large cookie/ice cream scoop. Place cookie dough balls 3 inches apart from each other on the baking sheet.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are set. The middle might still look a little raw but cookie will stiffen up after cooling.

Once cookies are removed from the oven top with the set aside Terry’s chocolate orange slices. Press the slices on top of each cookie and slightly press it down. Return the cookies to the oven for no more than 10 seconds just the melt the chocolate enough to stick on to the cookies. Move cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
